Hello Chaps.
I recently got a CRT from Sundog for this little Bimex that spent most of its life in a Moscow flat. It has been well used in it's life and when I got it, it was so dull you virtually couldn't make out what was on screen. The front was damaged and the CRT flopping around as border force didn't pack it up properly after looking inside for Russian spies!
Fitting the CRT was indeed fiddly as these are a bit tight on space, better than a Sony TV9-90UB though. There were some dry joints to be attended to and I saw a rather bodged up crack repair on some print. The "new" CRT is nice and bright but there is hum on screen now that I can see something and occasionally I get a line collapse and much more hum. at this point there is a short across the line transistor, moving the set about clears this so it looks like a pinched wire or something daft.
More work over the next week or so.
Nice! I have a VL100 too, it travelled all the way from the Isle of Skye! The tube is a bit flat in mine too, but it does get better the longer it's on.
Regards,
Lloyd
Hi Lloyd
My dad had a VL100 in the 70s for caravaning but as he went up north UHF signals were sparse, what annoyed him more was the fact I had a Philips TVette and got a perfect picture on Channel 3 405 lines as far as Fort William!!!
Hi.
I've just taken delivery of two more Bimex 1000 sets from my friend in Poland. They are virtually mint and working, although a little control cleaning and adjustments are required. Working well on the 6.5mhz Eastern Europe standard.
