Hi again, now it's time for a project I've had for years, a 1955 TV.
From the local junkyard. After the obligatory refresh of parts in the power supply, another quarter pound of parts have been replaced...

Here are some pictures, I am NOT finished, there is no tuner signal through. The picture is inserted from generator after detector on video uotput.
maybe another pound of parts need to be changed... 🙂

Best regards.

@elektrofix It looks a nice chassis to work on and that cabinet looks really good.

Here are some pictures, TV is in working condition.

The cabinet is a charming little potbellied box.

Definitely fits the distinct 50' style.

@elektrofix Please could you name the controls on the front of the set, channel change and fine tuner I can recognise but not sure of the others.

We now have extra large screens, HD, colour etc but I bet those who watched that TV in the 1950’s/60’s had as much pleasure and enjoyment, perhaps more than what’s available today.

  • From LEFT: Big dial, contrast. Small, mainswitch combined with bright, next small, tone control with function selector. (FM radio and gramophone input).
  • Behind the lid: horisontal freq, vertical height, vertical linearity and vert. freq.
  • Then, volume and the big one is finetuning and small, channel select.
  • Rearside is only "Noise cancel"  (sound IF fine-tuning)

@elektrofix Thank you, I didn’t realise the central panel was detachable.

What a nice layout, and a beautifully clean chassis!

Was it this good when you picked it up?

What nice looking set! I wish we had such nice designs in the UK. Back in the '50's A large majority of the sets of that age here were just square brown boxes, often with a poor finish that flaked or cracked after a few years. You have made a real good job of that! 😎
