Hi Trevor. ive had a T115 and a TV135 RU. and the 115 actually worked after i replaced some caps. but i sold them to dave hazell. so ill be interested to see the results when you have finished. cheers neil.
Hi,
That looks like a nice set, the same chassis as my Murphy V849U I believe. So far I have been very lucky with mine in that the LOPT has held up well after many hours of use.
Cheers,
Des.
Hi Trevor,
Classy tele, very bourgeois.
Hi Neil,
I once owned a TV115 which was converted to dual standard operation.
The conversion involved replacing the 405 only IF unit with the dual standard TV125 version. The Bush emblem was removed and a rotary UHF fitted. The set worked very well indeed.
It was one of those sets that just disappeared.
Till Eulenspiegel.
Full of teletext lines I see. Presumably this is due to slow frame flyback. Any mods for it?
SB
Great result Trevor.
Your multiplier is really neat. I like the way you potted it, would never have thought of hot melt.
Frank
i too think your potted doubler is a great idea and cad see it being usefull for all kinds of things

I tell you, your ingenuity seems to know no bounds Trevor. This is coming along a treat.
Well done mate,
Tas
Hi Trev,
What a gorgeous set and the picture is stunning! and you have not recapped yet!!!
I must admit I'm always looking out for the one before this, the Bush TV125 but they are thin on the ground. I spotted one a couple of weeks ago in a superb Walnut cabinet surround but it went for more than I wanted to pay.
Look forward to more updates on the 128's progress.

now those are the sort of offers that make a gloomy day burst with sunshine. I won't get too excited just in case though.
Some of these dual standard sets do produce cracking pictures, I will have to dig out my 196x Marconi 4649 that gives a very good account of itself. Just goes to show some dual standards were good.
I think you work some dark magic or perform some weird Celtic rituals involving sacrificial haggis being chased around the workshop at midnight to get such amazing pictures, still after 40's years in the business I'm not surprised you can work wonders.

That set looks an absolute beauty! I've got a TV125, it appears to try to work, I think some smoothing has gone somewhere, and it doesn't have much of a picture on 405. one for the winter projects list!! If it doesn'tget too cold in the garage
regards,
Lloyd
Hi Trevor
What great pictures and a fabulous set, it's a fine piece of furniture. You don't see anything like that now.
I must have been very expensive in it's day.
Frank
That would have been the pride and joy of the houshold in it's day. What a great looking set. I must have worked on these in the past but I do remember the 125 better.
Rich.
What a fantastic looking set! I wish I had the room for one, maybe one day I'll have a clear-out and go in search of one.
Are these sets safe to switch standards when on? I'm fortunate my current DS sets all are.
Brian
Some sets the switches arc badly and were designed to be turned off. Others indeed designed to be changed while on. AFAIK it was only switch damage, never saw LOPT or component damage ever.
I confess I "solved" damaged standards switches by soldering them in the 625 position. But in defence I was only a teenager and it was early to mid 1970s.
The DVD problem is interesting. Is it just DVDs or anything via a modulator? I'm asking because this may one day be relevant to me. I've been thinking along the lines of dual-standard to save having to use an Aurora but it would be as well to know if there's more to it than I thought.
I keep a haggis in the freezer to keep ME happy.
- Joe
I used to remove the switch entirely plus the extra '405' components too!
But that was then and not now when D.S. sets are desirable.
Won't confess to what I got up to as a youngster!
Andy
The symptoms were a periodic angry (almost rasping) buzz via an RF9000 modulator from about an hour into the film, though I've had similar (but much worse) effects using those microwave video senders.
The set performs flawlessly on 405 all day.
