GEC Series 1 'Fineline'
Quite rare beasties these days, so I thought I'd show you some photos of mine. I don't know the precise model as the sticker has fallen off! The cabinet is plastic with a woodgrain print. It was also available in trendy white too. The picture quality really is superb, helped by an excellent crt. I think it out-guns most of it's rivals of the time.
I wish I still had the Sobell version. It was a 24" model, acquired from a jumble sale circa 1986. It too had the top-mounted controls but had a fancier front design in dark blue with a sliver and black speaker grille.
Does anyone else have an example of this chassis?
Of course being Saturday teatime, The Basil Brush Show was on BBC1 when I took the picture....

PS- Sorry about the mess. I'm decorating.
Never had one or even seen one this close before today steve. but it's a tidy set with a good picture on it .
Cheers
Neil.
A very smart set Steve..... Go on, whip the back off and lets have a deco inside

PS....Who's the mop-top on the left with Basil Brush?

It's 'Mr Roy'! (Roy North - also of ITV's 'Get It Together)

I had quite a few of these out on rental, very reliable sets with good pictures, all i can remember going wrong was a 1.2 meg Ohm in the feed to the height control and 2x 4.7 meg Ohm in the width circuit.
Chassis used the dreaded double sided print.
Steve
Also the cathode resistor and electrolytic cap on the frame output valve.

I remember those ! It's a GEC 2084 , we used to have loads of these on rental
when I was an Aprentice back in the 70's
Great sets & nice to work on
The blue SOBELL was the 1101 for the 20 inch & 1102 for the 24 inch again great sets
