It lives!
Traced the voltages and noticed there was an open 8.2K resistor.
Has LOTS of problems though. The horizontal doesn't like locking, the focus is iffy (although that could be due to a tired tube) not to mention the safety glass developing a cataract.
@sideband I suspect it's been used a lot for the best part of two decades!
I'll try to sort out it's immediate problems and try to get some hours on it, see if it wakes up. See what the tube tester says too.
Another one has surfaced! My mate who often turns up useful "junk" arrived today with this one. He prowls the local auctions and often sees old TVs, normally I get a photo in advance but this time this just arrived. Price was a cup of tea and two choc digestives!
I'm tempted to plug it in and see what it does. 😏
@slidertogrid nice! Yours looks like it hasn't got the fenbridge guard or whatever it is on the front. I don't think mine needs it as it also has a band around it. Presumably it's to make it more Illuminant D. I may try to remove it.
It'll probably not show anything unless it has a video signal in. Looks like yours accepts standard UHF connectors. Mine uses quarter inch jack plugs.
@wayned Mine has no screen cover, it is a implosion protected Tube with a rim-band, if yours has a cover but still a rim-band my guess is it is probably there as an anti reflection screen or as you say to change the 'whiteness' rather than implosion protection? I suppose it depends on what the original use was and what the purchaser specified. I have checked mine for screen burn just to see if it was possibly a CCTV monitor but there is no sign of any. There is light corrosion here and there so it has probably been used or stored in a damp place at some point.
Once I get the bench cleared I'll give it a try and see what it does. If it looks promising I'll rig a video source up for it. either way I don't know what I am going to do with it, it's not really something I want in my collection, Space is a premium as well!
There is life, The screen is darker at the bottom than the top and can be made to light up bright briefly when the contrast control is rotated. That's about as far as I am going with it. A friend has expressed an interest in it so I think it will be off to him next time I see him. At least the tube and LOPT seem OK so it should be viable.
