B&W TV Nice little pick up yesterday.

Yesterday, Sunday was a good day, look what I picked up, this set for me brings back many childhood memories, bringing them back from the tip on my chopper bike and selling then for £5, this is my all time favourite set, the 1500 and brings back so many memories, I have another identical one I fitted a brand new tube a few years ago, this one is totally untouched inside, no new soldering at all so I'm very excited.

@michael-dranfield It’s in lovely condition, I saw few 1500 sets but the ones I saw were always easy to fix. Thorn must have sold many thousands of them, not the best performing chassis in my opinion but good enough for most purposes.
Enjoy getting it working or does it still work?
Frank

not tried it yet, I need to let it stand for a while then a good warm up with a fan heater before switching on and seeing if it works or not, given the untouched board inside it's either not had a lot of use or been very reliable.Posted by: @nuvistor@michael-dranfield It’s in lovely condition, I saw few 1500 sets but the ones I saw were always easy to fix. It does look a nice example. There was a time not a week went by without seeing a couple for a nice easy repair. The really late ones has the pinkish label Mullard tube which was I think a relabelled import. Not the best tube in the world some didn't last as long as the Mazda "Goldstar" the original silvery screen!
If you are lucky it may have a black and red Mullard label tube in it, but as you say if it is a low hours set it may be good regardless. I bought an Ultra version a few years ago it put up a real fight much more than either of my 1400s. Every Callins capacitor was leaky one in the audio amp let go with a bang! All good fun!
I look forward to the awakening of your set! 😎

The 1500 was the first valve telly I ever got working reliably! Mine is in an Alba T1520, I haven’t run it up for a while, last time I used it the main cap had started oozing its juices, so is probably due a replacement.
