Pye 40f
Had a real go at the 40f today replacing capacitors and resistors by the score
after replacing the above I had to replace the line output transformer due to poor insulation and arcing luckily I had a new old stock transformer purchased many years ago in anticipation of finding a set
when I first got the set on I had a strange frame fault bottom cramped and centre almost doubled over , the fault was finally traced to the thermistor on the scan coils , I’ve had this fault many times on pye sets but today I had a senior moment and forgot about this thermistor
the set now running with full frame I had a video fault due to a faulty contrast control it’s one of those typical pye controls with the kind passed through the pcb and a paxolin wiper I didn’t have a replacement so used an ordinary 10k control as a temporary measure and now the set is running well on both systems .
Thats a nice result, pity the LOPTX died.
Those controls very often got damaged by the customer knocking the knob. I carried a stock of various sizes complete with knobs, circlip and wiper assembly on the van.
I think I found a box of those pots the other day when I was having a sort-out. Was it the type that came as a 'kit' where you had the track, wiper/knob and a circlip in a bag and you had to assemble it?
@sideband yes that’s the type
the one I need is a 10k ohm
but I suppose a higher value would do it doesn’t look to be that critical in the manual
I'll sort out a few and put them in the post. They came from a workshop clear-out some years ago. They must have had problems with those pots as they are all 10K!

I found a couple of those 10k pots. The original plastic bag used in the packaging seems to have degraded but I've checked and both kits are complete with the knob/wiper, track and circlip. I've put them in another bag so if you PM me your address, I'll put them in the post.
