B&W TV Pye and Philips
I remember seeing them both! I do rather like the PYE one, if I’d have had enough room…

Update on the Philips 210, after a quick inspection a couple of things needed immediate attention , the mains filter capacitor and the boost capacitor both needed replacement everything els looked ok a quick look in the line cage reveals a new aftermarket loptx so that looked hopeful .A power up on the variac over the next hour I was rewarded with a good bright raster with plenty of noise but no signal this was due to a broken return spring on the tuner now I was able to tune the set in and 405 produced a fantastic picture but I couldn’t switch to 625 as the system switch was broken so I’m now on the lookout for a system switch or an old chassis with one on .
I saw the Pye after it had been sold, It has the same control knobs including the fairly unusual VHF tuner knob as my treasured Invicta 7070U. I would take great interest in reading about the restoration of the Pye will you be posting here? All those lovely waxies! mmm!
@slidertogrid I will be posting the restoration here for the PYE TV12 , I’ve done many PYE 11u sets recently so I hope that experience will stand in good stead for this one ,
the TV12u is a set I had been on the lookout for for a very long time so it will be restored with great care
A bit of an update on the Philips 210 series
i had a bit of a game with the tuner , the black tuning lugs the have a screw thread for tuning 4 out of 6 had stripped threads
I managed to find an old pye tuner that had similar ones so a major strippdown was in order to fit the replacements
after a few hours of frustration this was done but another fault was found with the tuner , the mechanism that operates the micro switch was missing a pin that the leaver rocks on now this is part of the main structure of the tuner so couldn’t be replaced
I ended up drilling a hole big to try and fit a pin that would allow the mechanism to operate correctly this was done by trial and error as I had to guess the correct position , I used a bent piece of metal similar in size to a small nail but a bit easier to bend into shape then it was soldered to the main bit of the mechanism
and it now works as it should , I would of preferred to fit a good mechanism but I haven’t be lucky enough to find one yet
the other fault that arose while testing was the sound went on both systems this was traced to T2183 BF194 being o/c base emitter
now we are back in action again
