Pye VT4
Tempting though it is, I'm not making a start on this one yet as I'm already stuck into an equally wormy Ekco. I'm just curious about this example of the VT4 having a gold mask and clear perspex implosion guard. I don't think I've ever seen another like it. They invariably have the dark tinted screen and black mask and I'm not aware there were any variations on that theme. I think I prefer the gold, to be honest!
I'll have to check the serial number and see if it's an early or late set.
Any Pye experts amongst us?
Steve
Hi Steve,
My guess would be a 'late' model as the early ones replaced the V4 which also had the black mask and tinted glass.

I'm sure that the 'tinted glass' was, in fact, Perspex and it definitely came in different colours. The predominant one that I recall was neutral but there were a lot of mauve tints around.
The internal woodwork was always black.
Is this one that someone has personalised, I wonder?
When all else fails, read the instructions
You can tell the late model vt4 as it has its I/f cans on the top of the chassis as the ctm4 did
Earlier sets had them underneath
The later sets gave better results
