I believe an AF239 is an equivalent and there are a selection on ebay at not too silly prices.

Funny you should say that ... I've just unearthed a bag of them here. Just tacked one in , and it sort of works ish. Video is very washed out, and there's barely any sound. Not enough gain by the looks of it. I'll check my connections again tomorrow.

What a pain about the EHT flashing over, sounds like it may have killed one or more of those fragile old transistors. Hopefully you won't go through too much of battle to bring it back.

An update. TR301 (First IF Amp) replaced with AF239 ... a very slight and very crushed and disorted picture available on 625. Almost not visible, some weak sound. 405 slight signs of some sync every now and again, no sound.

Move to TR302 (a 2SA455) ... 8v present on the emitter. 7.8V on the base. 0V on the collector.... I'll fit another AF239!
