My early CTV collection mainly covers the years 1967-1980. Most notably I've been a CTV examples for the year 1976. At the weekend one of this gap has now been filled. The TV is an interesting addition being a Rediffusion wired (cable) set. These MK1 sets CU2213 (UHF) & CH2213 (Wired) were once a scarcity but recently a whole raft have surfaced making their way into private collections such as mine.

Thanks to Mikey66 for popping  in to drop the cabinet off and spending a pleasant afternoon chatting about old TV's.

For more info on the CH2213 specification read here

Hi Chris.

How strange that all these Rediffusion sets have appeared as if by magic! How come you didn't have a cabinet for yours? Did the cabinet and chassis become separated at some point?

I have a taker for my CU2213 and now have to work out a way to get the CU2211 to Aidan....

I look forward to seeing yours in action.

Tas

Hi Tas,

Yes, back in Oct I was over Mikey66's place to collect my CU2213. Mike had acquired a spare wired set for its CRT and offered me the chassis for spares should my CU2213 be a pig. I couldn't bring myself to break up the chassis so it sat in the spares dept. In the meantime Mike found he didn't actually need the CRT so offered me the original cabinet with CRT, hence the CH2213 parts are now happily reunited. So the final task is for me to track down a frequency translator box and this will be a nice example of a wired MK1 for the collection.

I know Malc had been looking for a CU2213 for years and I mean years, so you're right it was as if by magic this glut of Rediffusions showed up. Makes you wonder what other goodies lay dormant waiting to be discovered.

Personally I prefer the look of the CU2211 and CU2214 sets, the CU2213 just looks all a bit too cheap and tacky by comparison. I think its the black plastic fascia that spoils its look.

I won't be tackling the CH2213 any time soon, at least not until I have tracked down a telebox.

I've not had a set on the bench for quite some time now and I think its about time I did. I'm thinking of having a crack at the the HMV 2703 ( a MK2 3000). I may just dive right into the deep end and take on a big project like the rebuild of the Decca CTV22C. Its a 22" Battersea Hybrid D/S sets as you're probably aware pretty rare. It is requiring a lot of work but has the potential to be a jewel if I can pull of the work required. Its been pretty much pulled apart with wire off everywhere, others snipped etc. Its all there I have the manual and a CTV25 as a frame of reference. There's the Dynatron CTV18 still waiting, in fact I'm not short on projects, there's loads to be getting on with it just a case of finding the mojo once again.

I know what you mean about finding the mojo again! I've had a grim couple of months to be honest what with my Dad's passing and all that. I'm sort of back on track now but it doesn't help that the workshop's a disaster area at the moment 🙁
