CTV Another PYE; Model 7228 16" KT3, Remote, No Teletext

It's not October, it must be PYETOBER..... Bloomin! PYE-Tastic!
As I enjoyed cutting my teeth on a new to me chassis, this came home with me today, to provide me with more challenges and education. Courtesy of @the_teleman this one is not the teletext, but the standard remote offering, the 7228, or to be exact, model No 42K7728/15W. The remote is unfortunately missing on this, and it's not the usual wedge I've seen, so that's another I've got to keep my eye out for, anyway here is the brochure which is also available in full on the main website, link above.
This is apparently totally dead, and the line output transistor is open. I'm happy it's dead, I didn't want a worker, I wanted a lesson, this will provide one.
At least this is a proper KT3, not like my last teletext one, which had more in common with the K30/K35. Quite amazing to see this set again, when my brother got married and left home I clearly remember going over to his place in 1984, and he had this TV. The thing that stuck in my mind was the green button on the TV control fascia. The other thing I remember was watching snooker and it being interrupted for live coverage of the SAS storming the Libyan embassy.

Great sets Chris! Every second hand one I could get my hands on flew out. I see it has had the 4R7 changed a very common fault. The occasional line output Transistor did fail. It may be a good idea to run it up with the tripler input disconnected just in case...

What I'm quite amazed at is the variations I've found of KT3 boards, and I've a lot of modules in stock. This one for example is the first I've come across that has the light and green screen printing.
Amazingly, I dived into my vintage remote box and in true Victor Meldrew form "could not believe it", I have the exact remote control for the set, so glad I bought a job lot a few years back.

I have the Philips non remote version of this set! Got it off the tip back around 2004-2006, before they stopped letting people buy old telly’s. There used to be loads of these sorts of sets at the tip back then, I wish I’d picked up more of them. I often wondered if it would be difficult to swap out the control panel for the remote version, but I guess I’d never find the bits to do it, unless attached to a complete set.

Also check for dry joints around the line driver transformer...and of course the tuning cap!

Rather than leave anything to chance, it will also be put on the V15.
