Hi Everyone
Today i thought i"d give my 25" Ferguson 3000 a run as it"s not been used for a while .
When i first switched it on the line hold was off slightly but after a couple of minutes it pulled it"s self in , the picture is good from the original Mazda tube . The only problem is the patterning and also when the colour is turned off the greyscale alters . Can any of you ex thorn engineers point me in the right direction as i haven"t got a lot of experience servicing these sets .
I wonder how many of the 25" 3000"s have survived ? . A lot of the 19" versions are still around .
Regards .
Gary .

Hi Gary, a photo of the patterning would be a help. Poor grey scale tracking is usually low emission crt, but yours could just need a few hours running to clear up. I have a very rare Rediffusion badged 3000 set with doors dated 1969, Malc.

Hi Malc
thanks for your advice , the tube has perfect emission so i think it"s something else . I"m sure that i"ve read somewhere before about this greyscale fault .
Regards .
Gary .

Hi Gary,
A patterning effect on colour can be caused by the beat between the 4.443Mhz colour subcarrier and the 6Mhz sound carrier. Most colour decoders have a 6Mhz trap to remove any residual sound signal.
The beat pattern is absent on a mono transmission.

Hi Mike & David
Thanks for your advice . Funny enough the pattering isn't as bad tonight . I wonder if it's interference from something as two of my neighbours have large aerial's in their chimneys. The G8 in our dining room sometimes gets interference, a sort of patterning.
Regards.
Gary.
