Is there any point in keeping later colour CRTs?  I have a small Alba TV that works, should I keep the tube or throw it?

Anyone want it?

So difficult, like you are doing, offer it and if no one wants it let it go. Only so much room available.

Put it on Facebook Marketplace or Gumtree etc as free local pickup and mention "retro gaming" as there's always demand for them.

@wayned

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't do Faceache.

I was more interested in someone making use of the irreplaceable CRT than just getting rid of the set.

It will be easier to just dump it, putting it upon Gumtree etc. for free may involve coping with knuckle-dragging gamers, something I would like to avoid.

Sam.

Some examples from Evilbay.

I had an Asda Durabrand version of that Hikona which I found abandoned! It worked but the tube was really tired as it had been used as a CCTV monitor, I used it with my Amiga computer for about a year with the heaters cranked up to 9 volts! The LOPT eventually failed. It's still yielding parts for my older sets.

Not colour but a school friend gave me a non-working HMV1808 when I was aged 13. I struggled to get it working and when I discovered it was only tuned to channel 1 I gave up and dismantled it. I kept some of the parts including the CRT. Having stored it for 60 years I suspected that I would never find a use for it but earlier this year @murphyV310 (Trevor) mentioned that he was looking for an Emiscope 3/16 for his HMV2807. I was very happy to give it to him and was delighted to see it displaying a bright and well focused picture for the first time in my life at his Scottish Meet last weekend.
