Sharp Aquos LC-46X20E Strange Picture
That looks like mechanical damage to the panel. I have a computer screen that has a mark like that and you can glint it in the sun and see the dent in the outer layer of the panel.
That was my conclusion too Ref, but I cant see any marks or dents in the screen using an LED torch.
But I think that is what it is though.

Yours looks like the damage has come from the edge of the panel. Mine looks like it was hit from the front and has a smudge in the middle of the screen that does not go to the edges.
I am keeping it as a spare as I have another one the same model that is in daily use.
I think your probably right there.
I guess a 46inch LCD panel is going to be a bit expensive too even if its available??
Jon
EDIT
Just checked on CHS its nearly £2500.00 !!!!!!!!!!

I got a similar shock when I enquired about a panel for a Philips 24" set some years ago - as it was in a 'wall' of some twelve similar sets in an office there was some pressure to preserve appearances. After the price was quoted, I felt that financial responsibility with public money outweighed aesthetics and I bought a 22" white Panasonic with an iPhone dock of all things. However, the new TV found itself charging everyone's iPhones pretty quickly!
Given you can buy a comparable set of similar size for a lot less, what does this say to you...?
It was saying 'it' to me before I even found out the price!
Totally not worth it.

There are two choices.
Non critical location where the blemish can be tolerated or the bin.
Its my brother in law's set, he does'nt mind it but his partner cant watch it.
I think it will end up in the bin or taken apart and the PCB's sold on ebay.

Common fault on this model, it's due to creepage and curling of the diffuser behind the LCD panel. Sharp are the only company I know that will supply panel parts. You require the diffuser sheet part no. PCOVUA193WJZZ also 2 x lens panels part no. PSHEPB022WJZZ.
You will need to dismantle the panel which requires much care and most definitely the use of anti-static precautions as it is physically and electrically delicate, dust ingress can also be a problem but it is dooable. Don't know if CHS can supply these, they may be only available to Sharp dealers but much cheaper than a new LCD panel.

John.
Thanks for the info John, I will look in to the availability and costs.
