Sounds good to me, just the smallest of adjustments to height and pin-cushion controls were all that were necessary (Before and after pic's below). The grey-scale also benefitted from a minor tweak of reducing green background by a fraction. After about 45 years, I can't complain about that ! (Not sure of the exact date, but likely very early 70's when the set was made).

I'll enjoy The Comedians for a while ?

It would be the very early 70’s so nearly 50 years old, definitely working well.

Christ on a bike where has the time gone? the years are going by at an exponential rate ?

Hi.
These sets are pretty reliable with only a few faults, the decoder can be a bit of a pig if you don't understand how it works, this has tripped up many engineers who haven't worked on the sets previously. The cap on the CRT base is a stock fault as is poor setting up on some sets from the factory. Even in the 90's when I was employed by Sony we still got the odd one to service, some were outstanding others had tubes that were well past it. Its now probably 20 years since I've had the back off one so many of the little tips have faded.
The set depicted here has to be one of the good surviving ones, a quick rune round as has been said is a very good idea, electrolytics will most likely be the biggest issue.
Cheers,
Trevor.

I have since discovered from the previous owner that the set was bought new by the former owner of their house and that they used the house only as a holiday home. It would explain why the set has had light use over the years.

Tonight I have been watching Abigail's Party on the Sony. I won't comment further on the film itself, but it provided some excellent 1970's viewing on the set. ?

It's a play I have never seen, I remember it from the 70's, and it's been repeated a few times but never got around to seeing or even knowing what the plot is about.

It's possibly one of Mike Leigh's most famous - and finest - works.
It can also make quite uncomfortable viewing.
Time simply flies by and it is high time this set had a run. As expected, it works faultlessly after not being used for well over three years. A good dose of The Two Ronnies from 1971 is perfect material.
First pic is a regular musical trio, New World.
The second pic show's an acrobat named Joe Andy who balanced a sword on the tip of a dagger held in his mouth whilst climbing a swaying metal ladder in the studio. Clearly a remarkable feat. I can find nothing online about him though.
