Sony KV-1320UB Mk1 EHT Rectifier - Solid state replacement problem

3AT2-EHT-replacement.JPG

Hello, I recently managed to obtain a NOS solid state equivalent to the 3AT2 EHT rectifier for my KV 1320.

The original Valve has failing emission with poor EHT regulation. So on fitting the said replacement, the set "pumped" about 3 times and the cut out operated. (Oh dear - at least that's what I thought in print!)

Disconnecting the top cap of the replacement, resulted in normal operation (no picture of course).

This new EHT stick was very hot. Normally this means it could be faulty (leaky) or is it just not compatible with the set. Its it supposed to be a direct replacement for the 3AT2.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Looks like you have a faulty one. I don't know the valve or its solid state replacement but looking on the web the item you have does appear plug and play hence my thinking it is faulty.

Hi Frank, yes it does appear to be faulty. I thought I may have been missing something.

Pity really, I wanted to see how it would have performed with this. Anyway I have a replacement valve coming instead!

Thanks
