Posted by: @slidertogridMike - thanks for the info it does seem an efficient way of providing the supplies from a 12V supply rather than an inverter. The Ferguson 37140/1 that had an optional "battery converter" just used an inverter which fitted inside, it was pretty cutting edge tech at the time. I only fitted a few to customers' sets and boy did it hammer the battery! That was only a 14" as well!
It just makes the set more complex internally doing it the way the professional kit I've met does it - in one monitor the PSU section is on a *huge* board that takes up a large amount of real estate within so at the time, I can see the way Thorn did it being more cost effective.
Posted by: @slidertogridHi Chris I couldn't open the diagram in the library.
Hi Rich, try now, it should work.

I think I am doing something wrong, sorry to be so useless! I can't click on the link on this thread and I can't find the temporary library is! Can anyone enlighten me? Please!?
There isn't a link in this thread to the service data, I just stated what the file was called and that it was in the temp library. By The way, I've since renamed the file to "Salora L Chassis".
To access the actual library area, click on the first bubble at the top right of the page, that takes you to what was the library. It used to contain all the files (over 10,000+), but since I ran out of space on the server, they've all been removed. Now I just upload temporary files as and when needed, PITA but needs must as I need the space for the forum.
p.s.
When you do get the file, please let me know, as I will remove it. 👍

Thanks Chris. Got it now. Many thanks and thanks for your patience ! I am not very good finding my way around on websites but I am slowly getting better!
Rich.
Hi Michael
It's all Ok now thanks for the offer though! Has the diagram got the circuit of the 12 V power supply that is housed in the plinth? I would be interested to see that part of the diagram just to see how it was done... 1986 makes the set quite a lot older than I thought! The picture is really excellent I am glad I saved it now.
Rich
@slidertogrid yes, it has the diagram of the battery converter and technical description, send me your e mail adresse and I will scan you those bits.
Thanks Michael.
