General question for the team. Is an ESR meter any good for checking Tantalum electrolytics. Something in the back of my mind says no.....

Hi Rich, my peak seems to manage these two examples of tantalums.

Well my homebrew ESR meter will certainly test them as good but my general feeling about tants (apart from the usual) is that they are either good or bad...since I didn't think they dried out like conventional aluminium types. Most seem to go either S/C or end their lives explosively. Basically can they go high ESR like aluminium types?
