Question Retrotech 21st May 2023

Hi all,
Who is going/planning to go to Retrotech this Sunday?
I will be there with Hunts smoothing bomb aka Lee.
Best regard
Jon

Me!
Should be there after 10:30, if I can find the place.. might bring some useful junk for the B&B, but will probably bring 3 times as much back! There are only 3 TV’s on my list this year, and I’m banned from even looking at any TV22’s!
Regards,
Lloyd

Planning on it!

I'll see you there lads, all being well. Do come up and say hi if you recognise me!

I have some stuff for the B&B so will be there.
I’m planning to bring nothing back but that plan has gone wrong a few times...
Nick

Looks like the beginning of an informal VRAT meet-up?
Remember, if you all have phones and there is a signal at the new venue, then you can all use the VRAT "RatChat" service for live instantaneous chat. Think Facebook Messenger but with having to be part of that horrible world, Ratchat is contained within our ecosystem. Wayne, John, and I use it all the time for instant conversations. You can all converse at the same time in the live chat room. On the day Just logon to VRAT click on Ratchat and you can locate each other.
Not sure what the arrangements are at the new venue, but the must be a nosh-spot or snack wagon, like there was at last year's venue. Hope you all have a great time and bag some goodies.

I will be going. My two mates have a stall at the back of the hall on the right so I will probably be hanging around there lunchtime covering while they take a break. There is a rest area at the front and a refreshments van outside there is no inside catering by the looks of it. There is a floor plan on the "Retrotech" thread on the UKVRR forum.
It would be nice to see some of the members from here If anyone recognises me please say hello! How about wearing an avatar badge? So know who is who is who?
Rich.

Hi all,
Sounds like a good plan Chris. I'm sure the signal should be OK. I will give it a try.
There is a seating area inside the venue and a hot/cold food and drink van will be outside.
Looking forward to seeing everyone.
I'm not planning on buying anything, but i will be coming home with something nice that I'm colleting there 😉 😀
Best regards
Jon

It will only be useful if all the above give it a go to try and locate each other, otherwise Jon, you'll be the only one in the app. Ny the way, the app allows photo's to be attached as well, so you can exchange pics of where you are or some might like to live report the event with pics, in their free moments for those of use stuck at home.

@tvjon74 has clocked into VRAT RatChat having just entered NVCF (RetroTech). I'm going to leave myself logged in live in RatChat, so anyone fancies nipping in for a chat or waiting to see what Jon posts about the event, see you there.

Had a great day. Managed to resist buying much. A couple of record players and a nice Philips car radio to put in the Reliant super-van. My friends had a busy day on their stall and manged to sell most of what they took. I helped out while they went for a look round and trade was brisk!
Comicon was in the building next door which meant the shared carpark was fairly full and you had to dodge the Stormtroopers prowling not to mention "Predator" and Mrs Predator" !

Hi all,
I had a good day out at RetroTech. My only purchases were some new caps from the BVWS stand and a selection of wire from the wire man. I also came home with something that was purchased prior to the event and collected there, more to follow on this later.
I tried to uplaod some pictures as I wandered around, but I was unable to do so. So here are a few shots now I'm home.
This was quite an interesting home made set with a short persistence green CRT and mains EHT. It nearly came home with me 😀
Best regards

Cheap $hit! Brilliant! 🤣

It was a good day, some nice stuff to rummage through! As usual I came back with stuff that wasn’t on my list, but I did come back with one thing that I’ve wanted for years, and I’d actually forgotten about. Also got to catch up with a few people that I haven’t seen for ages, so that was nice! Purchase of the day: wire!!! I’ve finally got some more of the nice silicone covered stuff, so I can now get back to the R1155 restoration that I started before lockdown! 10M of red, green and black should keep me going for a while. I would have asked for more of it, but I didn’t want to deplete his stock! Another nice purchase was the Sony Watchman pocket TV, it’s in almost as new condition, not a mark or scratch on it, and it works too! I took some stuff to the bring and buy to get rid of, and half of it went! What surprised me was that the radio and the soldering iron/meter kit ended up coming back with me, whilst an old floppy drive and a Bluetooth GPS tracker had gone! Although I think the GPS tracker had actually fallen into the back of a Philips scope that had no lid on it! Anyway, enough rambling.. here’s the obligatory photo of the day…
regards,
Lloyd

Hi All, Went to Retrotech, not with any intension to buy much but came back with a few TV valves and something I had been after for a while which was a Bush MB60, the earlier valve version of the TR82. And yes there was one there at a very reasonable price and clean looking but reported as faulty so went ahead and purchased. Here is the said item.
I took one of these in for repair when I worked as a TV engineer in 1977 thinking it will be the usual transistor failure or similar and was somewhat take for surprise on removing the back to find a valve radio!! Never knew such a thing existed looking just like the later units. You live and learn.
Adrian

I went and, thankfully, got rid of a lot of stuff on the B&B. I wanted rid so priced things accordingly and donated the low-end stuff. I intended to buy nothing and certainly nothing on a whim but happened on a couple of useful items that I wasn’t expecting to find. That they were useful for things I already have means I didn’t break my promise and came back with a few quid more than I went. All in all very worthwhile.
I wore my avatar but thinking I’d found a fellow Vratter I then kept getting queried about my years at Pye (!) so eventually I went back to anonimity as it was getting embarrassing.

Good sets with an extra I.F stage. It will work well.
