Workshop Konig colour generator.
Bought this instrument sometime in the mid nineteen-eighties. It gave good service but at some time it broke down and was just put away to be fixed sometime in the future.
The unit is full of lovely TTL circuits so it should be fun repairing it. Fortunately in 1988 received a service manual from the importers.
What I do remember was the frame sync was just a simple single broad pulse. Whether or not it has the Bruch burst blanking we'll discover when servicing work begins.

Analogue method for creating the circle. Two stage integrators are employed for line and frame rates.
This diagram is from the Philips PM5508 manual.

Block diagram of the Konig F988 pattern generator. Note the 4.433619Mhz colour sub-carrier crystal also provides after division the line and frame sync pulses.

This afternoon the pattern generator was connected to the mains supply and the results monitored from the baseband video output. Allowed some time to allow the instrument to recover from it's retirement. Here are todays results. At least the line and sync pulses are correct so that proves the 4.433Hhz master oscillator is working. Note the single broad frame sync pulse.
This is supposed to be the colour bars pattern.
The video output level should be 1V P - P into a 75ohm termination but the output is much greater than that figure. The 'scope is set to 2V/divion with X10 probe.

Hi David,
As you know I like to collect pattern generators so will look forward to following your progress. My PM 5544 generator continues to perform well .
Kind regards Gary.
Because of of the choice of sub-division figures the line and frame frequencies work out as 15,611Hz and 50.036Hz, not broadcast standard but as they used to say in the North-East "good enough for pit work".
Till Eulenspiegel.
