I can remember the days when a box of screws was just not right without that odd one that had missed one of the processes that it was supposed to have gone through.
Those were the days :thumb

Time to start a new thread - I reckon... :bba :aak

I'm just curious - was there an internal thread on the cable inlet side?

The problem with that connector can be sorted with the use of a Glasgow screwdriver.

I've got a 9-way D-plug somewhere which was made in a socket shell.

Didn't notice until after it was terminated, of course :ccb

That has reminded me of the other problem with plugs.

Had several boxes of these come through faulty when I worked at Aitkens, it was pot-luck as to whether EITHER of the threads had been cut. Yes, there were some which were completely blank, essentially a ferrule with a rotating section.

I recently bought a little project box from Maplin to house a 24V psu for a freeview box, I was quite annoyed when I tried to screw it together to find one of the only 4 screws supplied with it had no threads on it! Took me ages to find a suitable replacement for it.

We quite often get threadless screws at work, luckilly not too many. The worst thing is the little M3x6 countersunk Torx head screws we get sometimes turn up with fried egg shaped heads...

Regards,
Lloyd.
