News Beamish Radio and Television Shop

A friend of mine drove up from Harrogate at the beginning of July to travel and go and have a look at the Beamish Museum which isn’t too far away from me, and he wanted pop over to see me on his way back from the Museum, and to see my new place before he went home. He said that Beamish Museum in July will open a Radio TV and household appliances shop of the 50’s period with radios and televisions of the 50’s and 60’s on show and there is a Radio TV repair workshop at the back of shop, which I understand has test gear as well.
It was closed off to visitors at the time he was there.
I have checked on their website and there's some information about it. looks like it opened on the 6th July.
Just thought I let you know.

"O hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy"
Always wondered - did Lewis Carrol invent that word along with many others in the poem?
Reason I ask, there is a Beamish Street in Campsie, a Sydney suburb.

Hi iron2345
I never was a reader of Lewis Carrol books so I wouldn't know, I was more interested in reading technical books back then.
The Radio TV and household appliances shop of the 50’s period at Beamish Museum, is in the North East of the UK if people haven't heared of Beamish before, it's between Stanley and Chester-le-Street. There's more information about the new shop with a few photo's on their website at www.beamish.org.uk
I will have to take a visit there soon, subject to the weather being dry for once.
Keith

I visited Beamish last week and took a look around the 1950,s tv shop. A good selection of popular 50,s tv sets and radios on show, also a period w/shop at the back of the shop. Also various other shops from the 50,s Well worth a visit.
