Would fellow V-ratters know of a source to obtain new RCA-17022 & RCA-17023 Thyristors? The equivalents I believe are S3900 & S3901, but again I'm having a devil of a job even locating those. I did find one source in Germany, but they're £7+ each and that's not accounting for postage, then import duty which is now applicable.

I've looked everywhere, including e-bay (no e-bay links please) and I'm coming up with a big fat zero. Any help greatly appreciated, I'm looking to buy a good batch of them, so numbers available is important. Perhaps members are aware of other equivalents that I am not, so I can extend my search? If so, please educate me.

I can't see what the difference is between a 22 & 23 other than the Tq & Ig values, which I'm assuming is relevant to their circuit locations and functions.

@crustytv

If you can’t find them Chris, I have no chance.

Hope someone can help.

The biggest single issue is the switch-off speed; plenty of thyristors match for voltage and current - even gate trigger current -  but the lowest value of Tq I can find it 15µS which is way too much in this application.

I think you may have to bite the bullet and face the import duty.

The 18052 basic specs look similar and seem to be available in UK. Haven't looked in any great detail though.

Yes, they do look viable, however I'd need a source other than e-bay. This is stretching the rule taught. The ones which are available have a high risk of being china fakes. There was a thread on UKVRRR where a chap no end of troubles from that source.
