Leader LSG-17 Signal Generator
I'm long overdue having a sig gen in my test equipment armoury. Twice now I really could have done with one, once on the G6, which I still need to sort and recently on the 4k. So, I looked around and found this nice example.
The Leader LSG-17 is an IC wideband generator covering 100kHz - 150MHz. I really useful feature is the ability to test crystals. It can also be used as a marker generator when used with a sweep generator for checking and aligning IF circuits.
I've not had much time to play, lots on the go today, new TV arrived, still working on the 4K ultrasonic receiver etc. For now, here are a few snaps; first testing a 4.443 crystal out of the 4K, which appears to be OK, and second checking the accuracy of the leader scale, outputting a 3MHz signal. It appears to be OK.
More later.
Nice generator, be very useful. 👍Ā
Iāve got one of those, mines just badged āRS componentsā, works well, but I managed to break the tuning knob off! I donāt trust the frequency markings on mine, itās always off by quite a bit, so always use a frequency counter with it now. I did align the IF of an old Ekco radio with it once, and the set ended up as deaf as a doorpost! Probably because I didnāt have the frequency counter at the time! Useful bit of kit though.
Ā RegardsĀ
LloydĀ
We've got the 'sister' version of that at work, the LAG27 which is just an audio generator. It's actually the spare audio generator so it doesn't get much use I like the large clear dial....so easy to set up.
