Hi, from RR. I've just got my hands on a very old Avo model 8 which I think is an original Mk1, Does anyone here know how old that is? Unfortunately it's not a minter as it's obviously been dropped at some stage and the case is broken and it's been repaired with wide black tape and araldite but at least it works! It's been repaired inside as well and it's looks like it's been done proper and the movement and scale both have the same number so they will be matched. It's got a brown leather case as well. And there's no fried bits this time, like my other one has. I'm afraid the picture's not very good as I only have a phone camera which is wide angle only so it doesn't do close ups very well. RR.

That's an original AVO 8 (aka Mk1) manufactured between 1951 and 1956, by the look of it.. It's the only model to use screw terminals exclusively.. Later models had 'plug in' type leads, but retained the screw terminal option.

Take a peek at this useful website for more info...
