YokoGawa Decade Resistance Box 2793-03 Knobs
It is loose on its spindle with maybe 90 degrees of free play but still turns the switch after that. Seems to move in and out very slightly when twisted through the free play as though there is a fine thread somewhere.
No grub screw and I have explored taking a cap off to see if its a collet but no cap that I can feel with a blade.
It does not pull off either.
Any ideas how these knobs are fixed please?
Boater Sam.

Sorry Sam cannot help, is this the one, a photo may jog a memory for someone?
Frank
Thanks Frank, that's the cookie but mine is in a one deep equipment rack cabinet, quite smart.
Puzzling me no end, never had a knob on any gear that is like these.
Sam.

I had one of those in a former life. Would be interested in another if the money is right (loose knob or otherwise)
No idea how the knobs come off though.
Got a good light on the knobs and there is a filled area, covering a very small allen grub screw.
The spindle is not truly round, no flat or dent, hence the free play.
Tightened and its fine.
So I'll put it up for sale now after I have checked all my meters against it.
The recently bought AN8008 DMM is correct to better than half an ohm on all ranges, very impressive for such a cheap meter.

Hi Sam,
That's why I spent ages on creating the FAQ section and populating it with guides for the membership. There is a specific FAQ on the pm system sadly though folk rarely if ever use the FAQ's.
Seek and ye shall find. ?
CrustyTV Television Shop: Take a virtual tour
Crusty's TV/VCR Collection: View my collection
Crustys Youtube Channel: My stuff
Crusty's 70s Lounge: Take a peek
Couple of ways I know to send a PM.
1. Under the “leave a reply “ there is a welcome “ your name” and You have x messages unread. Click on the the X messages in blue will take you to the PM section.
2. In the Menu section expand My profile and select Private Messaging.
edit. The location of the welcome message you have x messages is different for portrait and landscape mode.

Agree with Frank above, but like most things it takes a minimum of practise to become familiar.
When it comes to navigation on almost any website, I am proud to proclaim my complete success at being able to miss the blindingly obvious.
To understand the black art of electronics is to understand witchcraft. Andrew.
Don’t I know it Andrew, I seem to be getting slower and slower with IT, or with most things for that matter.
