Hi, i am restoring this set and asking if anyone has one of these? There is a control on the front which rotates the internal ferrite rod aerial, but as soon a i let go of the control, the aerial returns to to it original position. Is this normal?  A very well made set which i paid £6 for, when i removed the back cover there was  brand new Mullard EL84 and EM81 boxed valves inside.

I would definitely say 'no', Malc.

Is there a similar Ekco version of this for comparison?

ETA: do you mean TRV14?

Checked all my data and the sheet is not covered by Trader or R&TS and alas the ERT sheet is missing from my file. Checki the ERT index, the set is known as 'Pathfinder' (thread title adjusted accordingly) and is covered by ERT 1365.  You can get this sheet from Paul's paid service download site here

It's also worth noting that Radiomuseum operates a guest download service too.
