Not much wrong with this set but from time to time the volume falls to a low level. Unlike the Ultra R786 this set doesn't receive BBC R4 on the long waveband. I'm sure it after adjustment of the aerial and oscillator trimmers R4 will come through on LW.

Is that tuning scale a bit of an oddity? - I see no sign of "Home" but plenty for "Light" and "Third".

Does this set have a wire frame aerial built into the cabinet? I'm sure I've had one of these, or something very similar, in the past.

Hi Marion, the frame aerial is inside the hinged rear panel. Today, the IF was checked and it is spot on 470Kc/s. The scale pointer needs repositioning about 4mm to the right, the chassis must come out to do this.Low consumption "96" series valves in this set.

Tuning scale pointer repositioned and the aerial and oscillator trimmers adjusted so now the five available medium waveband stations can be found in the correct positions on the tuning scale.

The padding capacitors adjust the low frequency end of the wavebands. BBC Radio 4 Long Wave is receivable but is not as good as the Ultra Twin radio discussed in an earlier post.
