Radio Has anyone got one of these capacitors?

Took this to bits because rotating the shaft didn't make the vanes move, now it's all in bits and atcually fell to bits so I am not sure or the rebuild process, I can't for the life of me see how it works, if you look at the moving vane it just has a round hole so how the hell does the round shaft turn the vane, it will just spin inside the round spindle, just like it did before I took it to bits.

@michael-dranfield Could it originally been a force fit on the shaft?

Don't think so, can't work out what's going on but I paid over £20 for these on fleabay so it's going back for a refund.

Just a guess but were the washers acting as spacers between each moving vane? If so was the nut on the end meant to clamp them onto the shaft? I can only think that it needs to be quite tight to be effective. Otherwise use superglue on the shaft.

possibly but the nut is part of the rotating contact, it could be someone took it to bits in the past and re assembled it incorrectly, however got a refund and bought another for £29, see how this one goes.
