Radio Caroline returns to MW 648Khz 1kW power.
Hi David proper job as you say try it on other radios and report back kind regards Bob
If a radio set which has an internal ferrite rod aerial is positioned close to the tuneable frame aerial an improvement of reception of weak signals is possible.
The transistor radio shown here is a Masteradio clone of GEC and Sobell models.
Actually, the set is sensitive enough to receiver Caroline without the aid of the frame aerial.

I always promised me to build one of those. Perhaps now is the time whilst there are still US AM stations about.
Caroline is now on 4kW since this thread started but back on the umbrella antenna. And powered by the sun but not much I reckon recently!
It’s bunging down with rain here AGAIN but the one thing with all this wet ground is that Caroline is very strong here at 150 miles over an entirely land path. My Hacker Sovereign II needs no help but the station sounds great on my little Sony portable with the Tecsun AN200 loop parked along side. The latter arrangement is on the windowsill in my lounge and at home a lot now I often listen to the 9am listener top 15 whilst having coffee or a bit of breakfast. It’s interesting what listeners pick – not unusual to hear things I have never heard before. Some 15s I really enjoy and others are so weird or heavy or not to my taste that I struggle, but you never know what’s coming up so I stick with it.
I listen a fair bit and, although Caroline is not my natural home these days, depending on what is being played I can stick with it for an hour or two depending on the presenter’s choices that day. Caroline presentation is not slick which suits me. For all that I am a member of the Caroline Support Group for some years now.

Made in 1957 this Pye P123BQ is receiving Radio Caroline loud and clear. In fact the set doesn't have to be in close proximity to the frame aerial to receive the station. This is the model which followed the famous Pam 710.
Till Eulenspiegel.
The tuneable frame aerial is connected to the "all-dry" battery DAC90. This set employs the coil switch pack from the Bush SUG3. No internal aerial with this set. The design of the set was copied from the Philips application notes for the D40 series of 1.4volt valves. Frequency changer is the DK40 and the output is a DL41.
The set is performing very well and Radio Caroline is coming in loud and clear.
Till Eulenspiegel.
Hi David nice to see the the All Dry Bush DAC90 working again your hard work in constructing has been worth it as its working better than a factory built mains DAC90 I can only get Talk Sport here kind regards Bob
