Record player by ACE Radio caled BANDBOX
next off the pile to restore sadly this whole unit has been sprayed white over the rexine so will be fun to strip and recover
note sure of how best to get this off will probably use paint stripper and hope it also loosens the glue
the case looks to be ply with box cut joints holding it together
will need to recap the amp but at least it seems to be working the amp is marked RP57B and has Mazda valves 10P13 and 10LD3
anyone got any info on Ace radios version of the record player or this amp
have heard of ace radio but there des not seem to be much data about them on the web
Final strip this using standard paint striper this also soften the glue on most of the fabric .Water helped remove the rest of the cloth a quick rub down smoothed off the cabinet.
Now what to cover it with?
I had a hunt round while out shopping and came across roller blinds some were soft but others were a stiffer canvas type material and looked like they would do the job
On my next visit to the local recycling spot I found one in a sky blue that looked the part so took it to try
When cut it does not fray it’s ridged so does not stretch and is thin enough to do the job
Also PVA does not seep through it
So I cut and I fitted it using a rubber printer’s roller to smooth it down
It looks great and I can recommend this as a good material to use
Looks very smart.
That is looking very good now
