Remember the HAC short wave kit?

I wonder how many of us started with one of the HAC short wave kit sets?

I made this one in the 1970s, it used the HL23DD Mazda Octal valve wired as a triode and Denco plug in coils- I think the last sets used B7G valves

Never built one myself. That looks a very well made kit. Does it still work?

HAC = Hear all continents. I always wanted one of their kits when i was a lad, could never afford one.

Same for me too, I was in my 30s when I bought the HAC kit.

As a lad I used to wind coils with 30 gauge enameled copper wire onto the cardboard cores out of toilet rolls and salvage bits from scrapped sets.

From what I remember toilet rolls had far better quality cores than they do now :D
