[Closed] Roberts RD-60 schematic?
Anyone have the above?
Power supply wasn't - putting 7.5V into the DC jack brought the thing to life temporarily, but current consumption was about 1.2A 🙁
Switched off , now it won't come back on... display backlight switches on and off and pulls about 70mA from the bench supply... nothing else 🙁
Being a modern DAB I'd say, no hope and Bob Hope, of finding a circuit ? . I'll not search my cabinets as I know for certain I've not got it. Get an FLIR camera and you'll see what's shorted.

The issue with the "thermal detection" method, is now whatever was loading it down as now failed open!
Here's a tip if you don't have a flir... spray freezer on the board, wait for a bit of frost to appear, then switch on !
I'm getting a sense of déjà vu here... ah-ha!

Don't know if you are a member of UKVRRR, there was a member there offering the manual, see if this link works!
Hope this helps!
Lloyd.
Vince @fixitnow2003 is also a member here ?

I have repaired a number of these radios. The case is not fit for purpose.
The first problem is Roberts radio reversed the polarity of the 7.5V DC connector between RD10 RD50 and RD60. Result is a lot of these radio burn out!
With the RD60 we have three dedicated supply voltages derived from the 7.5V supply or 6V battery. These are 5.3V, 3v and 1.2V. The 5.3V supplies the other 2 voltages. Usually the voltage to voltage converter 7.5V to 5.3V goes short circuit.
The radio still works but draws more current then burns out the 5.3V to 1.2V DC to DC chip! Usually the 3V supply is OK and what you get on switch on is just scale illumination indicating that the 1.2V is missing. I usually get this working by by-passing and using two silicon diodes a (1.3V voltdrop) with a suitable resistor.
I have the manual so if you want a copy please send me your e mail address.
Still got the manual have shared it with the Roberts and lots off other places and people, PM me your email address and I will send it on
Vince
