Hi I am looking for information for this record player.  I have only been able to see blurred diagrams so far on the net where you cant see the value of the components.  It is working but I have audio distortion when the volume is increase.  I would describe the treble output as tinny and grating.  Its not the speaker because I have tried a good substitute,  I also managed to get an original crystal cartridge for it as it was not working well with an aftermarket ceramic one, there was no volume.  A previous owner has replaced most of the components expect C9 which has a red and yellow covering and I think may be a Dubilier.  Any advice would be appreciated

First job is inspect the work already completed for mistakes, Looking at C9 on the diagram supplied by Chris is the output pentodes bypass capacitor, this being o/c or reduced in value will lower the output of the set and possibly affect the bass, Plessey comes to mind with red and yellow , if it is Plessey they are suspect, on the other hand all small value 60 year old electrolytics are suspect.
