As I said at the footnote (see below) of the article, anyone (member or guest viewers) who has further tips or stock i.c. fault info can add them to the article by using the comment for at the bottom of the page. I'm sure there are many more to add.

That is an excellent guide and well worthy of a thankyou.

I was reminded of an elderly engineer back in the late 80's who did not understand IC's and I can remember him randomly shorting pins together of an IC in a Panasonic TV with a screwdriver to see if he could "find" a fault.

I stood back awaiting a bang and smoke, but the set just died. I nearly did too.
