Hello, it´s being a while since i was here, too much work to do unfortunally :-(.

I have this Panasonic with a strange error, when i plugged i in it was tottally dead, så i took a look on the psu (where the transformer is) that part was okay, later i found a open fuseresistor and replace it, then the display turns on, and after a while i could turn on the vcr from standby to on, i put in a cassette and press FF, rew and play, it was working, but after a short time it starts to do strange thing, going bank into stop and shifting between on/standby and at last goin to standby for good :-(.

There is still light in the flourcent clock, but nothing happens when i push the standby/on button in, there´s nothing burnt, no smell no nothing except the smell of cigarettes :-(.

does somebody in here have experience with this model?

Thanks for help

Best regards

Alex

@acj1980 I had one for many years from new, only fault was either the reservoir or smoothing capacitor, can’t recall which, you can see in the photos you have posted.
I would check all voltages supply lines, after that I have no other experience.

@nuvistor it seems to be a common problems in these vcr´s, after a while the standby/on button was turned to "on" the vcr goes to on and works again until i blow som heat from the hairdryer around the power section, then it goes back to standby, so i think i have to take a look on the caps.

Another issue is the picture is very bad because of defective capacitors i think.

so i have a little job forward :-), i´ll be back 🙂

best regards

Alex

What are those parallel 10 ohm resistors doing? Are they replacing the O/C fuse resistor? If so the fuse resistors are usually either zero resistance or very low value. I used to carry replacements and they are usually around 1 ohm so 5 ohms will be too high and might upset the operation. It was a very long time ago and Philips marketed their version of the machine as a VR6460 so I repaired a few of these. Not many major problems.
