Hi All, I can see things are improving. A common problem I had with machines as someone has mentioned before is the AC motor bearings become dry and need a drop of oil, Do not take the motor apart as it is difficult to align the bearings correctly. The way to check this is look at the capstan and drum motor ramp and look for the sample pulse being stationary half way up the ramp. The capstan pulse is derived from the CTL head and the drum pulse from a pickup head under the drum disk assembly. If these are moving constantly up and over the ramp then most likely the drum and capstan are running to slow. To prove, disconnect the eddy current break in turn and see if the pulse runs the other way which it should do, if it does not it is most likely running to slow so lubricate the motor bearings. Beware that old "VCR" tapes are becoming "sticky" now and may be dragging on the guides. Hope this helps

Adrian
