U.S. but a fascinating insight. Nice big American Roundy colour tubes (13:00)

I seriously doubt any of the rigid quality control and exhaustive testing is carried out on any of the modern TVs now. Pretty much explains why they fail so readily. Ultimately though it was driven by the consumer wanting ever cheaper units which meant something had to give.

Still nice bit of nostalgia.

I enjoyed watching that. - No need to check the finished product with pride these days.
Manufacturing uses statistical process control and software alerts us if there is a deviation from the design specifications. SPC violation is a pain for manufacturing support but it does seem to work.
Why things fail so readily is most likely another matter.
