Hi everyone

Today I’ve pulled out this set , It’s a G26K526/05 fitted with the G8 chassis . I’ve had it two years and never had the back off since I obtained it . It came from a family who had purchased it new in 1976 . It was used in a second sitting room so didn’t have a lot of use . The owner recalled that it has only ever had one repair in it’s life being the usual lopt . It was used with a Freeview box after the analogue switch off . It’s absolutely immaculate and the tube is as good as the day it was unpacked . Tonight I’ll watch some vintage programmes on it .

Regards

Gary.

That does look nice. Out of curiosity is that model fitted with an A66 or A67-120X? I would suspect the former.

Also what is producing the test card and what sort of UHF modulator are you using? The G8 IF strip was very good, the modules often being used in PT constructional projects but that display really does look excellent.

Hi john

it is an immaculate set , the tube is a A66- 120x which in my opinion were the best . The test card is being generated from an SD card plugged into a media player . The SD card has all the test cards on it from c,d,e,and f . The modulator is a programable unit that I purchased from Maplin’s .

The results are nearly as good as broadcast. I also play the correct trade test tape to match the version of test card that I have on at the time.

Regards

Gary.

Hi John

I’ve just realised that today I was generating this digital version of tcf from a generator that was built by the test cards r us team who if I remember rightly were David Grant and mike (cathovisor). I’ve had it since the 1990’s.

Regards.

Thanks for that Gary, I rather suspected it was an A66. The A67-120X was always a bit lacklustre.

Very nice looking television you got, it seems to be in an very good condition :-), I have never seen the G8 chassis anywhere except in GB, here in Denmark we have the Philips K9 chassis around 1974,

I have a K11 in my electronic repair room or what you called it ;-), the line transformer was burned in the secondary section and the 9.5nF capacitor was like garbage, and… yes a lot of bad solderings, but now it works well 😀
