Retro Tech 2025

Although I didn’t attend Retro Tech this year, I did by proxy, hence the title of this blog post. A good friend of mine did, and as a result he bagged me a couple of great new sets to add to the collection, one that I had been after for some considerable time and missed out on getting last year.
Both of these new arrivals are ITT, a brand until now not represented in the collection. A ITT CVC30 & ITT 80-90 CVC823/4
Series.
The first is a 1977/1978 CD662 utilising the CVC30 chassis, this was the one I had long sought. The cool thing being the docking ultrasonic remote. This can be left in the TV to operate all the user controls, or it can be removed and used from the comfort of your armchair. I have boxes of spare panels for this range, so should the need arise I have plenty of spares.
The next ITT TV dates from 1980 and uses the CVC824T chassis which according to data is a 80-90 CVC823/4 series. As for the model, I’m a little unsure of from the label, either an XC3658 or a 524.
More to come, look out for the individual repair blogs for each of these TVs coming soon.
Nice to see, for some reason ITT sets weren’t so common by the time I started noticing home electronic brands in the mid 1980s. The family of one of my friends had a set, which was a fairly unremarkable mid 80s TV.
From looking at the brochures their earlier sets had quite a bit of character.
