Retired Local Government Officer (Technical Support in Higher Education).I got my first taste of 'Telly Tickling' at the age of eight years, whilst watching my granddad at work.. I guess it snowballed from there. The snowball sort of melted for a long, long time, but I've made a new one - In black and white, and colour!I have a small collection of TVs, even smaller collection of radios, and an odd record player and tape recorder - somewhere. If it's old or quirky, it's right down my street.

RE: HeathKit IT-5235 Yoke & Flyback (LOPT) tester

@pye625 I wouldn't bother. 125mA is fine and if anything may prevent nuisance blowing. Fuses are a pretty inexact device anyway.

RE: Bush RG 34

The green printed one marked "STD" is strictly for 78rpm records only. It's use on 45's or LP's will ruin them. You need a red one marked "LP" for anything other than 78's. STD is an abbreviation for ...

@jonwarby Errr... am I imagining it, or are you playing that 45rpm record with a 78 stylus?! The head looks to have a green engraving on the top. The radius of a 78 stylus is too wide for a microgroo...

RE: Bush RG 34

I agree with Chris, all are valid, do what you suits you best. If you do stuff the original, it’s worthwhile leaving a note with the set then it won’t be changed again in future by the next owner.

@crustytv Happy to be corrected, Chris. Similarly, I'd have said the most likely location for C37 is on the output transformer, which I'd assume to be attached to either the baffle or the speaker its...

C37 (.01uF 350V 25%), is the tone corrector cap, it looks to be across T1 (Audio output TX) where is that TX? It does not look to be on the chassis, is it down on the Speaker? If so, that's where the ...

It sounds like the fine tuner is doing it's job correctly and alignment is pretty much spot on going by the above pictures. I agree with Frank, try reducing the output from the modulator with an atten...

I would check your modulator is not overloading the set before suspecting alignment.
